Frequently Asked Questions - Toilet

What is a water closet?
A water closet is a toilet. The term dates back to antiquity and is still used in many parts of the world. Other terms that refer to this product are "commode," "china," or "pot."

What is the difference between a one-piece and two piece toilet?
A two-piece toilet consists of the tank and bowl; whereas a one-piece is molded together and is considered a low profile unit. Both one- and two-piece toilets come in either elongated or round front.

What is the difference between a round front and elongated toilet?
Elongated and round refer to the front part of the toilet. The elongated is approximately 2 inches longer than the round front.

Why do I need a 1.6 gallon toilet? Why do some work better than others?
The federal government has mandated that all toilets sold in the U. S. for residential use will be 1.6 gallon flush. Each manufacturer engineers their toilets differently, which is why some work better than others. One thing to look for is larger traps (the hole in the front where the waste goes down).

Why is a 17" high toilet becoming so popular?
The higher styled toilets are being used more because of the increase in the elderly (it is easier to get up from) and the fact that the average height of the population is increasing.
